Addie Lois Markham

Addie Lois Matthies Markham, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in Breckenridge, Texas, at the age of 98. Born on May 24, 1926, in Rotan, Texas to the late A.K. and Alma (Riggs) Matthies. 

Addie dedicated much of her life to her role as a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Lawrence G. Markham in Roby, Texas, on May 23, 1944, and together they built a warm and nurturing home filled with faith and love. 

A woman of deep faith, Addie was actively involved in her church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. Her dedication to service extended beyond the church walls, as she volunteered in various capacities, including participation in the Prison Ministry in Snyder, Texas and was involved with the Walk to Emmaus, where she helped many find their paths and faith.

Among her proudest accomplishments were the memories she created while sewing, making quilts, and loving her family and friends

Addie is survived by her son, Terry Lynn Markham and wife Debbie; daughter-in-law Jan Markham; grandchildren Chris, Daniel, Jeff, Lori, Mark, Katie, Bonie, Ali, Kara, and Stephanie; as well as 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence G. Markham; sons: Lawrence Wayne Markham; Michael Dean Markham and wife Vickie; Larry Don Markham; and daughter Lois Ann Markham Steenburgen. She was also preceded by her grandson Charles Markham; her parents, A.K. and Alma Matthies; and all of her sisters and brothers. 

Visitation for Addie will be held on December 18, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:30 PM at the 1st Baptist Church located at 111 N McKinley Ave, Rotan, TX.
