Alford Carey

Alford Lee Carey, age 83 of Roby,Texas died at his home Friday, April14, 2017. Born November 28, 1933 in Colorado City, Texas he was the son of the late Elsa T. Carey and Dorothy Estelle Bunch Carey. He lived most of his life in the Roby-Rotan area. Alford graduated Rotan High School in 1952.
Alford was the owner and operator of the Texaco Wholesale and Dal Paso Auto Supply in Roby. He later was employed by TDCJ in Snyder.
Alford married Bobbie Nell Simmons in 1953. They had three children. In December, 1987, he married Mert McAnear.
A graveside service was held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Roby cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
first wife, Bobbie Carey
a brother, Harold Carey
and a sister, Margie Gallagher.
Alford is survived by his wife, Mert Carey
one son, Stuart Carey
two daughters, Leslie Carey Maberry and husband, Gordon
Audrey Carey Duncan and husband, Vernon
two step-daughters, Carma Darnell and husband, Rodney
Sherry Sellers and husband, Terry
one sister, Lola Blythe
Nine grandchildren: Katie Maberry, Abby Maberry, Carson Maberry, Candice Duncan Hirt, Alison Duncan Cox, Jaycee Carey, Tara Carey Butler, Reagan Darnell ,Blayne Darnell and ten great-grand children.
