Anson Bryant Martin, 93 passed away August 24, 2024. Services will be Wednesday, August 28th 2024 at Crossroads Baptist Church at 1:00 PM and burial at Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at Weathersbee Ray Funeral home from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM August 27th 2024.

Born December 1, 1930, in Fisher County, and was the son of the late W. Carl and Stella Mae (Warren) Martin. Anson met his sweetheart, Dorthy May Pike, at the age of 16 and was married after 3 months of courtship on September 27, 1947. They would have celebrated 77 years of marriage next month.

Other than a few years on the Plains and in Fort Worth, they lived in Fisher County until moving to Camp Springs where they resided for over 62 years.

Anson was a cotton farmer, rancher and his hobbies included fishing, playing dominos in which he won many tournaments, played cowboy Polo, gardening and traveling with the Fisher County RV club after retirement. He was a member of the Fisher County Sheriff posse and in January of 1961, he rode his horse Trigger in JFK’s inaugural parade. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Carl Anson Martin and daughter Linda Loyce Thurman, three brothers (Eddie Martin, Willie Martin and Ivin Martin) and two sisters (Lillian Yates and Neva Thompson).

Survivors include his wife, Dorthy May Martin of Arlington, daughter Karin Martinez, son Richard Martin & wife Karen Lee, son Michael Martin & wife Sandi Martin – all of Arlington; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren; Brother Kenneth Martin & wife Barbara of Roby, Texas, and Betty Jane Forbes of Fort Worth, Texas.
