Benito M. Silvas passed away Monday, June 7, 2021. Services will be 10:00 am on Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rotan. Burial will follow in Belvieu Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation followed by rosary on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
Benito was born June 16, 1942, in Gregory, Texas to the late Domingo and Manuela Silvas. He came to Rotan in the 1960*s. He met his wife Guadalupe, and they were married on July 24, 1965. They had six children. Benito was a jack of all trades. He worked at National Gypsum for thirty-two years as a mechanic and fabricator.
Benito enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, and hunting. He loved watching the food network and was always talking about the new foods and recipes he saw. He and Lupe also volunteered for the food pantry. Benito never met a stranger. He talked and shared stories with everyone he knew. Benito will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Fedencio Silvas and David Silvas.
Benito is survived by his wife, Guadalupe; four sons, Rene and wife, Rena Silvas, Marcus and wife, Celina Silvas, Christopher Silvas, and Monte and wife Tabitha Silvas; two daughters, Veronica Silvas Tankersley, and Amanda and husband, William Goodell; grandchildren, Andre and Danielle Romero, Gabriela Silvas, Kaitlyn Thomas, Marc Alexander and Jessica Silvas, Taylor Silvas, Tatiana Baca, Khashi Silvas, Breylee Silvas, Brandon Rocha, David Rocha, and Brianna Rocha; great-grandchild, Cutter Tankersley; two brothers, Domingo and wife, Stella Silvas, and Robert Silvas; two sisters, Juana and husband, Ascension (Chon) Rodriquez, and Maria Elena Silvas; one sister-in-law Elida Silvas; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice in Abilene or Fresenius Dialysis in Sweetwater.
