In loving memory, Carmen (Lia) Ochoa, age 76, passed to her home and received her wings on January 29, 2021. Born May 17, 1944 in Knott, Texas, Carmen was the daughter of the late Inocencia and Jesus Salazar. She married the love of her life, Luther Ochoa, on May 31, 1960. They lived in Ackerly, Texas, and then moved to Rotan making their home there. Carmen loved to read her Bible morning and night. She loved her church and was always willing to help those in need. Carmen worked at Fisher County Hospital then Heritage House until she was 76 years old. She loved her co-workers and the residents. Carmen loved her great grandchildren with all of her heart and loved her pets, “Tootsie” (RIP) and “JoJo.”
Carmen is preceded in death by her husband, Luther; her daughter Jo Ann Ochoa; her parents, Inocencia and Jesus Salazar; brothers, Francisco, Jose, Jesse, and George Salazar of Abernathy; and one sister, Rosa Quintanilla, of Arizona.
Carmen is survived by one daughter, Diann Martinez of Rotan; two granddaughters Ashley Duran (Allen) of Lubbock and Abrah Neves (Kristian) of San Angelo; one grandson Michael Andrew Martinez of Rotan; three great-grandchildren who she adored with all her heart, Vincent and Laikyn Martinez of Rotan and Elvie Jo Duran of Lubbock, Texas; seven sisters who loved her very much, Esther Sepeda, Reina Garcia (Ray), Mary Riojas (Mike), Gloria Yanez (Thomas) all of Abernathy, Dora Lucero (Mark) of Lubbock, Texas, Sylvia Lucero (Chuck) of Rowlett, Texas, and Bea Sanchez (Richard) of Garland.
Diann and her children, Ashley, Andrew, and Abrah, would love to thank everyone for the love and support during our difficult time of losing our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Small town love towards our family was beyond enormous. Love to all.
