Charles Whitfill, 57, of Rotan, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Rotan. Burial will follow in Roby Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, from 4:30-6:00pm.
Charles Robert Whitfill was born August 4, 1959, in Roby, TX to the late Joseph Marcellus and Dixie (Duval) Whitfill. Charles received his Bachelor's Degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He married his true love, Kathleen McConnell, in Lindsey, Oklahoma in 1982. Charles was a teacher and coached girls' athletics for 20 years. Charles adored his family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also blessed with the opportunity to coach both his children in sports; which was a very special experience for him. Charles was a member of the Rotan First Baptist Church and cared deeply for his church family. A loving husband, father, grandfather, coach and friend; Charles will be dearly missed by all that knew him and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Marcellus, II.
Charles is survived by the love of his life, Kathy Whitfill of Rotan; his son, J.T. Whitfill (Gayla) of Sweetwater; his daughter Ali Whitfill, of Rotan; two grandsons, Issac and Benjamin Whitfill, of Sweetwater; sister and brother-in-law, Andi and Eddie Thornburg of Roby; and nieces and nephews, Joseph Marcellus, III, of Tennessee, Angela Whitfill, of New Mexico and Mitzi Johnson, of New Mexico, Johanna Whitfill of Florida.
