Clifton Floyd Jones, 80, of Odessa, TX, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born in 1931 in Aspermont, TX, to Alton and Opal Jones. He was the youngest of three with older brothers Hubert and Dean Jones. Clifton was raised in the rural area around the Double Mountains of Stonewall and Fisher counties working on various ranching operations with his family. He attended school in Rotan, TX, where his family settled and he always called home. He served in the Army during 1952, until a medical discharge prevented him for serving. He married the love of his life, Doris Marie Early on.

He was born in 1931 in Aspermont, TX, to Alton and Opal Jones. He was the youngest of three with older brothers Hubert and Dean Jones.

Clifton was raised in the rural area around the Double Mountains of Stonewall and Fisher counties working on various ranching operations with his family. He attended school in Rotan, TX, where his family settled and he always called home. He served in the Army during 1952, until a medical discharge prevented him for serving.

He married the love of his life, Doris Marie Early on February 21, 1953, in Rotan, TX, and they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary just before his death. Clifton and Doris had three children while in the Rotan area and in 1959, moved to Odessa, TX. While in Odessa, he worked for oil field service companies, a cement plant, and a petrochemical plant operations. He retired from Huntsman in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Opal and his two older brothers Hubert and Dean. Also preceding him was his greatgrandson Gavin Lee Nelson.

He is survived by his wife Doris, of Odessa, daughters Debbie Salmon and husband Steve of Buda, TX, Dianne Tolbert and husband Clyde of Crossville, TN son Mike Jones and wife Barbi of Midland, TX six grandchildren Marcie Salmon, Karen Pinkstaff and husband Greg, Justin Salmon and wife Stacey, Tim Sumner and wife Amber, Cory Jones and wife Christina, and Felicity Nelson and husband JR thirteen greatgrandchildren Caleb McBroom, Ethan McBroom, CJ Nelson, Trevor Sumner, Madison Pinkstaff, Levi Jones, Elissa Sumner, Blake Pinkstaff, Titus Jones, Rachel Sumner, Seth Jones, Campbell Pinkstaff, and Isaiah Sumner.

Viewing will be at 9:00 am on Tuesday February 28, 2012, at Weathersbee in Rotan, Texas.

Graveside services to be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, TX.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions to the American Heart Association or your preferred charity.
