Dolores Montez

ROTAN- DOLORES (GONZALEZ) MONTEZ, 93, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015, in Rotan, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial following at Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.
Born April 9, 1922, in Mexico, Dolores was the daughter of Lorenzo and Ursula (Gonzales) Ortiz. She married the love of her life, Manuel Montez, in Gregory, Texas, on April 9, 1940. A resident of Rotan since 1945, Dolores was a homemaker, and an excellent cook. She was known by many for her delicious tamales. In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed quilting, cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, raising her goats and chickens, and loving on hers grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Manuel Montez ; her son Julian Montez; her grandson, Arthur Montez; her great-great-granddaughter; her parents Lorenzo and Ursula Ortiz; her sister, Juanita Ortiz; and a brother, Jose Ortiz.
Dolores is survived by four sons, Jessie Montez and wife, Ellie, of Rotan, George Montez of Rotan, Ricky Montez and wife, Tanya ,of Aspermont, and John Montez and wife ,Lisa, of Snyder; three daughters, Lupe Silvas and husband, Benito, of Rotan, Aurora Williams of Rotan, and Rosario Theil and husband, Randy, of Sheboygan, WI; one brother, Gabriel Ortiz of Gregory; two sisters, Ramona Hernandez of Portland, and Santiago Ortiz of Gregory; twenty-seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
