Doris D. Floyd, age 88, passed away on December 30, 2017, in Denison, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas. Her nephew, David Stout will be speaking at the memorial service. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. preceding the service. Interment will be at the Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, Texas.
Doris Dean Crawford was born on August 13, 1929 in Royston, Texas. Doris was the youngest daughter of B. B. "Bud" Crawford and Eula M. Campbell Crawford. She graduated from Rotan High School.
She married Johnnie N. Floyd on August 21, 1948, in Roby, Texas. They moved to Midland, Tx. and lived there from 1949-2000, when they moved to Denison, Tx. to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.
Doris was a homemaker raising her family and later worked in office positions of receptionist and clerk, and finally retiring from Allen Orthotics in Midland, Tx. She was a Baptist and in early years taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She enjoyed music and came from a musical family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Johnnie, her brothers Loyd Franklin, Floyd Odell, and G.W. "Shorty" Crawford, and her sisters Era Beatrice Boen and Dora Mae Crawford.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Greg Carnett of Sherman, Tx. and Patty and John Pearson of Denison, Tx., Seven grandchildren including spouses, Laurissa and Clint Bray, Janea Burkett, Melodee and Harvey Strait, Kristy and Brett Washburn, Ben Carnett, Amarie Carnett, Meghan and Shy Swindle,
Eight great grandchildren, Henry and Charlie Bray, Alyssa and Kayla Burkett, Dylan and Presley Strait, and Sydney and Reagan Washburn, and her sister, Eva Ratliff of Paris, Tx. and sister-in-law, LaVerrel Pittman of Albany, Tx., as well as several nieces and nephews.
The Doris Floyd family would like to express their gratitude and special thanks to the staff of Grayson Place in Denison, Tx. and to Guardian Hospice staff and her nurses Courtney and Sheila, in Sherman, Tx. for their wonderful care of our mother.
