Dorothy L. Noles Goodwin, born on December 5, 1937, in Rotan, Texas, passed away on April 21, 2025. She was raised on her parents’ farm in Sardis, where she grew up playing and enjoying life as an only child. Dorothy led a life full of passion and creativity. She worked as a secretary at Rotan School for several years, where she became a beloved part of the community. Known as a true Rotan Yellowhammer fan, she passionately supported her local team.
DL completed her education at Rotan High School, but only after marrying Arnie Goodwin, her high school sweetheart on December 17, 1955. Before long, they welcomed two boys into their family, James and Todd. Family was incredibly important to her; she cherished every moment spent with them.
Mrs. Goodwin loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan, where she served and taught Sunday School for many years.
Dorothy was a woman of many talents; she loved dogs, enjoyed painting, and had a knack for making jewelry. Her crafty nature shined through in all her creative projects. Dorothy was also known for being a good cook, sharing delicious meals with family and friends.
Dorothy leaves behind her two sons, James Dean Goodwin (Brenda) and Bruce Todd Goodwin (Ellen); five grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
She is reunited in death with her husband, Arnie Goodwin, and her parents, Alex and Lois (Baker) Noles.
A visitation will be held on April 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Belvieu Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Dorothy will be dearly missed.
