Emma Denton

December 23, 1934 — February 18, 2015

ROTAN- EMMA ONA DENTON, 80, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at her home in Rotan. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 , at Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weahtersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born December 23, 1934, in Hamlin, Texas, Emma was the daughter of Marion Archibald and Lee Wilma (Moore) Fairey. She graduated from Rotan High School in 1953, and married the love of her life, Rodney Denton, on October 25, 1961, in Abilene. Upon Rodney*s retirement from the Army , the couple moved back to Rotan, where Emma became an entrepreneur. She worked for several years as a florist and hairdresser in Rotan. Emma was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the First Baptist Church of Rotan. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, flowers, quilting, and taking care of her cats. She was well loved, and loved to serve others.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Lee Fairley, and her sister, Ruth Wynell Martin.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Rodney Denton; one daughter, Laura Hester and husband, Ron, of Snyder, one son, Rodney Denton, Jr., and wife, Tracie, of Rotan; three grandchildren, Caleb Hester, Sam Denton, and Ryleigh Denton; and numerous beloved friends.
