Ennis Allen

July 7, 1927 — May 6, 2018

Ennis Eugene "Pee Wee" Allen, 90, of Rotan passed away May 6, 2018 at Holland Lake Nursing Home in Weatherford, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Rotan, under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the funeral home, with visitation to follow.
Born July 7, 1927, Eugene was the son of Arnold and Dollie (Schick) Allen of Rotan in Fisher County, Texas. Eugene married Margaret Ruth Ryan on January 1, 1950 in Abilene. Eugene raised cotton all of his life, and began breeding pigs later in life. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the harmonica, and loved to play Happy Birthday to the delight of everyone. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, even learning to text at the age of 85 so that his grandchildren could text him pictures of his great grandchildren. Eugene was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church for many years.
Eugene was drafted by the Army during the war, but they would not take him. He heard that the Navy would take anyone, so he enlisted. The Navy kept him for two weeks, before discharging him due to his disabilities.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret (Nana), his brothers Gordon and Barry, and his sister, Gail.
Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sharon Allen of Mineral Wells, and Tim and Kandee Allen of Lufkin; his daughter and son-in-law, Pat Russell and Bob Gersten of Fort Worth; two sisters Evonne Scarbrough and Wanda Brown of Midland; grandchildren, Chris and Jeana Allen, Tracy and Daniel Jones, Jeff Russell, Jennifer Lokie, Ryan Allen, and Jenn and John Averill; eight great grandchildren, Wyatt and Zachary Allen, Everly and Parker Jones, Lance and Lana Lokie, and Bailey Grace and John Monta Averill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
