Born June 5, 1920 in Bronte, Texas, Lorene was the daughter of the late Felix A. Askins and Jennie Beatrice Wrinkle Askins. Lorene attended Draughns Business College for two years and married Eddie Buttram in Monterey, CA on January7, 1947. She taught school during the sixties and was an ordained minister while tending to her home and family. Lorene lived in Lubbock and Hamlin, and later moved to Rotan in 1992. She liked to sew and taught classes in quilting. Lorene also loved to cook and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Four Square Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Eddie, her parents and one brother Ray Askins.
Lorene is survived by two daughters and sonsinlaw, Erma Joe and Reverend Jack Hargrave of Lubbock and Sharon and Cleburne Murdoch of Rotan her brother and sisterinlaw, Foy and Lajuana Askins of Robert Lee six grandchildren, Sharilyn Davison, Charity Murdoch, David Hargrave, Rickie Hargrave, Eddie Hargrave and Jeanette Garrett seven greatgrandchildren twelve greatgreat grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
