Frances Ann Jones was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Mema” as she was called by her grandchildren was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend to many. Frances was born on February 13, 1933 to the late Bill and Anna (Bartlett) Cook, child number five out of 10. Born prematurely and small enough to fit in a bread loaf pan where she was kept warm by the kitchen stove, and amazingly she survived.
She married Winford Lee Jones on Feb. 13, 1950. Frances was 17 years old and Winford was 19 years old. They enjoyed 53 loving years together before Winford lost his battle with cancer.
Proverbs 31:28 states “Her children arise and call her blessed”. So true of Mema. She loved her flowers and gardening. Frances loved the Lord and was a faithful member to the Roby Church of Christ for decades. She was a happy, joyful soul who had the sweetest laugh. We know she is dancing and laughing in heaven.
She is survived by one son, Danny Lee Jones and his wife Della; one daughter, Vicky Jo Blassingame; three sisters, Barbara Mercer, Doris Woods and Patty Daniels; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
