Gail Ann Loving Barnes was born on September 2, 1938 to Fred Oliver Loving and Lavonia Cauble Loving in Rotan, Texas. She left this earthly world on March 13, 2025. Gail lived in Rotan until she met Donal Ray Barnes from McCaulley, Texas. She and Donal married December 31, 1954 and lived in Odessa, Texas until moving to Mineral Wells in August 2017. Gail had a great love for the State of Texas, The Alamo and The Republican Party. She traveled the state of Texas in her duties as President General of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and took great pride in being a descendant of trail driver Oliver Loving. She was a member of numerous lineage organizations and served on the Board of the Texas Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Amos and Mary Barnes, and beloved granddaughter Danielle Moody. She is survived by her husband Donal Barnes of Mineral Wells, Texas; daughter, Monea Barnes of Odessa, Texas; grandson Heath Moody (Candice) of Southlake, Texas; grandson Dillon Storey of The Colony, Texas; great-grandchildren Ty and Tatum Moody; her siblings Phyllis Loving Goodwin of Paducah, Texas, Fred (Kay) Loving Jr. of Abilene, Texas; Debby Loving of North Richland Hills, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. on March 21, 2025, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, 111 N. McKinney, Rotan, Texas with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m.
