Genelle Summers

Genelle Smith Summers of Rotan passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the age of 86 in San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Rotan. Burial will follow in Belvieu Cemetery. A family visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home from 6-7 pm.

Genelle was born in Sweetwater, Texas on October 28, 1931. She graduated from Rotan High School and then Southwestern University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Genelle married Luther Summers on September 5, 1950, in Rotan. This year they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan for many years. She enjoyed playing games (especially cards), reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Luther; two children, Neal Summers and wife, Kathy of Midland and Lisa Wester and husband, Steve of Quitman, Texas; four grandchildren, Tanner, Caitlin, Coltin and Seth; six great grandchildren, Summer, Ryder, Parker, Cappella, Coral and Cooper; one niece, Linda Gavigan and husband Tom; and two great nieces, Kristen and Kate Gavigan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Ruth Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Patsy Smith.
