Gloria Lou Posey passed from this earth after a long battle with dementia on March 4, 2025 at the age of 86. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Roby Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.

Gloria was born October 1, 1938 to Max and Lorene (Curlee) Stuart in Rotan, Texas. She was a member of the Roby Church of Christ.

Gloria’s life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and boundless love. Born and raised in the heart of Rural Texas, she quickly became known as someone who could always be relied upon. It wasn’t work ethic that stood out, but the way she made everyone around her feel important, valued, and supported.

Growing up, Gloria and her brother Freddie shared a special bond over their Southdown sheep. Together, they were a force to be reckoned with at major stock shows across the state. Their partnership wasn’t just a sibling, rivalry; it was a true team effort. They spent countless hours caring for their sheep, making sure they were groomed and ready for the next big competition. The wins were sweet, but what made them truly special was how they celebrated those victories together-sharing not only the trophies but the hard work and joy of accomplishing something they both loved.

But Gloria’s talents didn’t stop at the stock shows. She was also deeply involved in the world of rodeos with her house, Yellowjacket. She competed in rodeos all over the state, including the Stamford Rodeo. She was a member of the Cisco Jr. College Rodeo Team.

She met the love of her life, Ted Posey, at the Fisher County Stock Show. They married on December 18, 1954. Their love was undeniable. They were married for seventy years. It was the kind of love that could withstand anything. You didn’t have to see them together long to know there was a connection between them that no one else could touch. A bond that had been forged over years of shared memories, laughter, and love. Gloria’s eyes would light up every time Ted walked into the room. Together they lived in Rotan, Cisco, Abilene, and Wichita Falls before moving back to Roby to raise their four kids.

Her connection to the land and the people around her grew even stronger when she worked at the Roby and Rotan Gin. There Goria didn’t just server farmers…she served as a friend, a sounding board, and a constant reminder that, no matter the season, the community was in this together. Every customer who walked through those doors know they could count on Gloria to listen, offer advice, or simply share a laugh after a long day in the fields. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room.

But perhaps the most enduring part of Gloria was the love and support she gave her family. As the wife of Ted, a coach, she was the unwavering presence in the stands at every game, meeting every challenge with the strength of someone who understood that supporting your loved ones was a job in and of itself. Ted may have been a trained boxer, but Gloria was going to get to them first. Her love for Ted was constant, and that devotion poured over into their children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren.

No matter the distance, Gloria made sure to be at every game, recital, and event, always there with a smile, a hug, and words of encouragement. Her grandkids knew her as the one who made every achievement feel like a monumental victory, no matter how small. Each one of them felt like the most important person in her life.

Her family remembers her for how she could make each of them feel unique and special whether it was an encouraging word after a tough day, or a warm meal shared around the table. Gloria’s love was never questioned. Every family gathering was a celebration-whether it a birthday, a holiday, or just a random Sunday afternoon.

As she grew older, Gloria’s legacy did not fade; it only deepened. Her presence in the community, in the stands, and in the hearts of her family never wavered. Gloria was the glue that held so many lives together, making them feel cherished, supported, and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Lorene Stuart; her in-laws, Dave and Wilmath (Seaton) Posey; three sisters-in law, Bobbie Posey Miller, Carol Wheeler Posey, and LoVelle Fletcher Stuart; three brothers-in-law, Richard Posey, Charles Miller and Kent Westbrook; and one great grandson, Pistol Posey.

Gloria is survived by her husband of seventy years, Ted Posey of Rotan; two daughters, Terry Lou (Lance) McWilliams of Roby, and Cindy Lea (James Dale) Putman of Snyder; two sons, David (Tammy) Posey of Rotan, and Jeff (Phiny) Posey of Roby; eleven grandchildren, Kelly (Dustin) Bell of New Home, Tracy (Larry) Lambaren of Snyder, Kyle (Misty) McWilliams of Roby, Ryan Posey of Rotan, Kayla (Frankie) Gonzalez of Rotan, Klay (Lauren) McWilliams of Rotan, Hailey (Travis) Reagan of Lubbock, Stuart Posey of Roby, Joe (Anne) Posey of Roby, Jamie (Jon) Tunnell of Shallowater, and Taylor Posey of Austin; twenty-two great-grandkids; one brother, Freddie Stuart of Roby; one sister-in-law Lanny Mayers of Decatur; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

We would like to thank Patsy Terry and all the employees at Good Life Building A for their wonderful care and the love they showed to mom.
