Ivin Martin

June 9, 1933 — May 1, 2018

Ivin Martin, 84, of Rotan passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Funeral services are set for 2pm, Friday, May 4, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Rotan. Burial will follow in Sardis cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm.
Ivin H. Martin was born June 9, 1933 in Rotan, TX to William Carl and Stella Mae (Warren) Martin. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1952. Ivin married his best friend, Anna Beth Burnett, on August 25, 1952 in Mineral Wells, TX; at the home of the local minister. Ivin was a lifelong entrepreneur and was involved with many different businesses; including fiber glass manufacturing, farming and ranching, and Martin Feed & Garden for the last 35 years. He was very community minded, always working to improve and invest in making things better for everyone. Ivin was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Rotan. Music was the center of Ivin's life; he loved singing gospel songs and was a big Gaither Family fan. He also loved meeting new people and making new friends; and could play a mean game of dominoes. One of Ivin's favorite things to do was traveling down to Mexico to spend time with his "brother" Nacho on his ranch. Ivin was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Ivin was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Stella Martin; his sister, Lillian Yates; his brothers, Eddie and Willie Martin; and his son, Lyndell Porter Martin.
Ivin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anna Beth Martin; his daughter, Judy Martin Overbey of Abilene; his sons James Russell Martin and wife Terry, of Mineral Wells and Preston M. Martin and wife Rhonda, of Rotan; his grandchildren, Amy Ross, Jamie Martin, Shanna Gamble, Zach Overbey, Presley Gaspar, and Winston Martin; Nacho Garcia and family; two brothers, Anson Martin and wife Dorthy May, and Kenneth Martin and wife Barbara; two sisters, Geneva Thompson and Betty Jane Forbes; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Sardis Cemetery association in Ivin's name.
