JAMES HORACE Pa Putt Putnam, 76, passed away Tuesday July 22, 2014 at Hamlin Memorial Hospital. Services will be 10:00 Thursday July 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Roby with burial to follow at Roby Cemetery under the ion of WeathersbeeRay Funeral Home. ation was Wednesday evening from 6:007:00 at the funeral home.
Born February 14, 1938 in the Hitson community in Fisher Co., TX, James was the son of the late Vada Plemons and Nelson Andrew Putnam. James married Cynthia Lewis on November 15, 1958 in Rotan, TX. They moved to Roby in 1961. He worked in the oil field and later retired from the Texas Department of Transportation as an Assistant Foreman after thirtynine years, a job he truly loved and appreciated. James enjoyed shooting competitions. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching old westerns. While James sons were growing up he became very involved with cub scouts and as a member of the First Baptist Church in Roby, James was a very active member teaching Sunday school and RAs and had been a deacon since 1964. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Darlene Putnam in 1964.
James is survived by his wife Cynthia Putnam of Roby three sons and a daughterinlaw, Dale and Cindy Putnam of Snyder, Mike Putnam of Roby, and Bennie Putnam of Sweetwater three sisters and a brotherinlaw, Bonnie Floyd and her husband Garland Soapy of Rotan, Altha Adams of Sweetwater, and Billie Williams of Abilene nine grandchildren, Hailey Putnam, Jamie Tunnell and her husband Jon, Wesley Putnam, Brad Putnam, Nikki Putnam, Rhanda Akins, Deliah Putnam, Justin Dodson and his wife Diana and Jorden Putnam and six greatgrandchildren, Natalie Putnam, Raiden Akins, Keira Burrows, Skyler Dodson, Wyatt Dodson, and Noah Dodson.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Roby PO Box 460 Roby, TX 79543.
