Jerry Buck Etheredge, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on December 9, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on April 29, 1942, Jerry lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family.
A High School Graduate of Hobbs, Texas, Jerry dedicated himself to a career as a welder, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Throughout his life, he was respected not only for his skills but also for the integrity and honor he brought to his profession. With every fence, barn, and cow pen he built, Jerry wove his hard work and artistry into the fabric of the surrounding counties leaving a legacy that will stand for generations.
Jerry married Linda Gatewood on May 8, 2003. Together, they combined their families to create a loving home filled with joy and laughter. This combined family was his world, and he took great pride in being a father to his children and a grandfather to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Etheredge, and his sons: Tad (Gordo) Etheredge; Britt Etheredge and his wife Melissa; Jim Etheredge and his wife, Gretchen; and Linda’s daughters: Teresa Thomson and her husband Darry; Tina Bagley and her husband Chad; and Tanya McClure and her partner, Joseph. Additionally, Jerry is survived by their combined fourteen grandchildren: Shyana Baugh; Brittney Etheredge; Emma Etheredge; Madelyn Etheredge; Ethan Etheredge, and his wife, Hannah; Ryan Thomson, and wife, Tabitha; Lindsey Ponder, and husband, Kyle; Sadie Taylor, and husband, Rees; Savannah Bagley; Sierra Bagley; Saylor Bagley; Sydney Etheredge; Emily Green; and Brady McClure. He is also survived by his brother Mac Etheredge and his wife Ginny, his sister-in-law Billie Etheredge, as well as, six great-grandchildren who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, S.L.(Schooner) and Lena Etheredge; his son Sidney Etheredge; his brother Don Etheredge; and his step-mother Irene Etheredge.
Visitation will be held on December 12, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home, located at 111 N McKinley Ave, Rotan, TX 79546.
