Joe Martinez

Joe was a son of the late Jose Joe and Petra Gomez Martinez. Joe was a lifelong resident of Fisher County moving to Rotan as a child. He married Janie Vasquez on September 15, 1952 in Rotan. He was selfemployed farming and owned two gas stations Conoco, and Mobil which later became Fina, until he retired. Joe played guitar and the accordion with his band the Las Navagantes. Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren, and liked mowing his yard and watching old westerns. He is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Alethea Flores, a grandson, Alonzo Lujan II, three brothers, Augustine, Edward, and Gabino Martinez, and one sister, Maggie Ramirez.
Joe is survived by his wife Janie Martinez of Rotan three sons and daughtersinlaw, Jesse and Rosa Martinez of Rotan, Randy and Rachel Martinez of Santa Barbara, CA, and Ronnie and Leanne Martinez of Rotan seven daughters and sonsinlaw, Linda and Glen Holt of Ruidoso, NM, Rosemary and Paul Carrillo of Rotan, Irene and Alonzo Lujuan of Rotan, Jean and Santos Flores of Rotan, Maryann and Alex Flores of Abilene, Jo Ann and Rudy Yanez of Rotan, and Pat and Val Morin of Rotan one brother, Johnny Martinez four sisters, and three brothersinlaw, Jane and Raymond Ortega, Vera and Wally Cantu, Molly and Shorty Magana, Mary Ortiz, and Eva Barrera a sisterinlaw, Mickey Martinez and his dog Oscar.
