Kathleen Bennett

Kathleen Bennett, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Rotan.

Visitation will be 1 PM Friday, April 9th at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Service will be held in the Chapel at 2 PM and officiated by Chaplain Jim Hargrove. Burial will follow at Belvieu Cemetery.

Kathleen Bennett was born in Rotan, Texas to W.D. and Thelma (Turner) Elrod on June 4, 1943.  She grew up and attended school in Rotan. Kathleen married Charles “Red” Bennett on June 27, 1996 in Brady, Texas.  Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family and pets, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and in their early years, she loved going dancing with her husband. She was a proud member of the Rotan Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for twelve years.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents: W.D and Thelma Elrod, brother: A.L. Elrod, son: Wayne Nichols, and grandson: Blake Nichols.

She is survived by her husband: Red Bennett of Rotan, two sons: Dean and wife Marie Nichols of Snyder, Ray and wife Linda Nichols of Midland, six grandchildren: Latisha Hermosillo of Odessa, Codi Haigood of Snyder, Kourtney Baker of Midland, Mikeal Tamez of Rotan, J.C. Nichols of Rotan, Haley Wright of Midland, and six great grandchildren: Kabryn Haigood, Madden Wright, Dawson Baker, Jayden Taranga, Bradley Baker and Gwyneth Wright.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Jenny Loving, her hospice nurse, for all the wonderful care she provided Kathleen, as well as support for the family during her time of care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice or the Rotan Fire Department.
