LaDoska V. Smith, 89 entered her heavenly home on Monday, September 30, 2024 after a short but courageous fight with cancer. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 4 at 10:00 am with the service at 10:45 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
LaDoska was born March 21, 1935 to Glen and Reba Breneman in Snyder, Texas. She attended Hardin Simmons University where she graduated with a degree in education. However, the best reward of her time at HSU was meeting the love of her life, Alton Smith. LaDoska and Alton married in Houston, Texas on August 15, 1959, and started what would be a beautiful life together. After a few moves to various cities, they settled in Rotan, Texas where they had two children, LaRhea and Russell. LaDoska was a wonderful wife and mother who loved her family passionately. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her love of genealogy took her and Alton many places across the country. She loved being outdoors working in the garden, planting beautiful flowers and listening to the birds sing. She attended as many events that her children and grandchildren participate in. She was always their biggest cheerleader.
LaDoska was a well-grounded Christian woman who was loved dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. While her absence will be greatly felt, our joy for her being with her Lord is greater.
LaDoska was preceded in death by her father and mother Glenn and Reba Breneman and her brother David Breneman. LaDoska is survived by her husband, Alton Smith of Rotan, daughter LaRhea West of Abilene, TX, son Russell and wife Tammy Smith of Hewitt, TX. LaDoska was the proud grandmother of Justin and wife Kalli Smith of Celina, TX, Andrew and wife Heidi West of Abilene, TX, Brandon Smith and Winsome Lewis of Denver, CO, and Whitney West of Annandale, VA. LaDoska was also the proud great grandmother of 4 great grandchildren, Reagan, Kennedy, Lawson and Callen. We will all miss “Grandma” tremendously, but her many lessons will remain with us forever.
Flowers are appreciated and memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice.
