Lawrence Hindes, 85, of Rotan, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, in Sweetwater. A memorial mass service is scheduled for 10am, Saturday, December 2, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rotan. A rosary service will be held 7pm, Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rotan.
Lawrence Edward Hindes was born April 6, 1932, in Merrill, WI to Chauncey and Helen Marie (Knudson) Hindes. He enlisted in the Air Force, and served 20 years; retiring as a Major; he served as a navigator/bombardier on the B-52 bombers. It is quite an accomplishment for an enlisted man to retire as a full commissioned officer. Lawrence received his Bachelor's degree from UTEP. He met the love of his life, Rosemary Brininstool, in Roswell, NM, on a blind date. The two later married in Roswell on January 9, 1960. Lawrence had many interests; one of his greatest joys was taking his grandchildren fishing. Later in his life, he began doing woodworking and became quite skilled. He was a member of the Senior Olympic Bowling team and also loved square dancing. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Lawrence is survived by the love of his life, Rosemary Hindes; his children, Bradley Hindes and wife Kathy of Cave Creek, AZ, Stephen Hindes and wife Linda of Hutto, TX, Kimberly Tuttle of Albuquerque, NM, Brooks Hindes and wife Tani of Las Cruses, NM, and Nancy Sparks and husband Joe Mike of Rotan, TX; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Glenna "Chickie" Anderson and Judy Faragher of Bayfield, WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boys Town of Nebraska, (14100 Crawford Street - Boys Town, Nebraska 68010), or St. Joseph's Catholic Church General Fund.
