Leona Stanaland

May 11, 1915 — June 25, 2014

Born May 11, 1915, in Stonewall County, Texas, Leona was the daughter of Henry E. and Mattie Pearl Duncan. She married Hamlin Thomas Stanaland, Sr. on December 28, 1935. Leona was a longtime resident of Jayton, and a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune, shopping, and gardening. She was still getting up on a rooftop in her seventies. Leona was a member of the First Assembly of God in Jayton, and the Home Demonstration Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hamlin Thomas Stanaland, Sr. her son, Hamlin Thomas Stanaland, Jr. five sisters four brothers, and her parents, Henry and Mattie Duncan.

Leona is survived by two sons, Royce Stanaland and wife, Sharon, of Jayton, and Jerry Don Jody Stanaland and wife, Brenda, of Girard two daughters, Vera Parker and husband, Harold, of Jayton, and Julia Judy Clark and husband, B.Wayne, of San Antonio sixteen grandchildren fortytwo greatgrandchildren six greatgreat grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
