Lonnie Starnes

Lonnie Max Starnes, age 71 went to join his heavenly father on Wednesday, May 06, 2015 at his home in Rotan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church in Rotan.
Lonnie was born August 6th, 1943 to Hoy and Opal Clark Starnes at Callan Hospital in Rotan, TX. February 6th 1960 he married the love of his life Lucy Mae Reaves at Calvary Baptist Church in Rotan.
Lonnie worked in the oilfield for 30 years with several of those years being in Elk City, OK. During his time in Elk City he was a member of the Prairie View Baptist Church. Lonnie and Lucy made lots of memories and great friends. He served on the Merritt School Board of Education for 9 years.
Lonnie retired in 1991 from the Apache Corporation and moved back to his hometown Rotan, where he and Lucy still reside. Upon moving back to Rotan he became very active in the community. He was a member of the Rotan Volunteer Fire Department, President of the Rotan Little League, and a member of the Rotan City Council. Lonnie also recognized as Rotan Citizen of the Year. He was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. Lonnie was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father Hoy Starnes, mother Opal Burch and step-father Doc Burch. He is survived by his wife Lucy of Rotan, TX, 4 daughters and son in laws Linda and J.L. Shinault of Elk City, OK, Debbie and Neal Herndon of Elk City, OK, Penny and David Bray of Westbrook, TX, and Squirt and Brandon Alls of Rotan, TX. 8 Grandchildren, Michelle Carnes and husband Mike of Elk City, Josh Shinault and wife Vanessa of Elk City, Joe Herndon and wife Stephanie of Elk City, Kenny Herndon and wife Jessica of Elk City, Allison Ashmore and Husband Kevin of Midland, Michael Bray of Westbrook, Rowdy Alls and Lucy Alls of Rotan. 15 Great Grandchildren, Whitney, Riley, Garrett Sullivan, Jake and Lizzy Shinault, Mikiah, Mikael, and MiKinna Carnes, Riley Joe, Kayde, Max, Kinnedy, and Kinley Herndon all of Elk City, OK, Titus and Candace Ashmore of Midland, TX.
