Guadalupe Auturo Ortiz, known affectionately as Lupe, was born on October 17, 1957, in Rotan, Texas. He was a cherished member of his community and a dedicated family man, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. Lupe graduated from Rotan High School and spent many fulfilling years working for National Gypsum in Rotan.
Lupe's passion for life was evident in all that he did. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him much joy. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening, and he had a particular fondness for animals, especially his beloved donkey. His ability to connect with people extended beyond his family; many considered him a father figure and a steadfast friend.
Lupe passed away on March 21, 2025. He leaves behind his wife, Pamela Ann Sharp, and his children: Crystal (Joey) McKinzey, Brandi (George) Fannin, Julie Hoyle Cantu (Jason B.), Jose (Shandi) Ortiz, Falisha (Jeremy) Alls, Jesus Ortiz, Maria Ortiz, Jason Ortiz, Wyitt Ortiz, and Tim Craig. He was survived by his brother, Manuel Ortiz. Lupe was a proud grandfather to Hannah, Joseph, Justin, Adriara, Gregg Jr., Sarah, Christopher, Emily, David, J.D., Braxton, Paxton, Braylee, Layne, Zade, Zaavan, Colton, Landrie, Tessley, Stetson, Amiress, Grayson, Averi, Annalise, and Novaleah, as well as his grandchild Reagan and his grandson Ezekiel. He also embraced Crystal Cabler and Mari Cruz as part of his family, and he had a whole slew of beloved nieces and nephews.
Lupe joins his parents, Manual and Socorro Ortiz, in eternal rest, as well as his siblings Santos, Jessie, Trina, Maria, Juanita, and Martin, and his grandchild Hunter.
A Rosary will be held in his honor on March 25, 2025, at Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas, starting at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will take place the following day, March 26, 2025, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church at 2:00 PM.
Lupe will be remembered for his big heart, his kindness, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He was a beacon of light in their lives, and his spirit will continue to shine through them.
