MARY LORENE HULL, age 98, died May 22, 2015, at Nolan Nursing Home in Sweetwater, Texas. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death, and died peacefully in her sleep. A smile and a single tear marked her passing from this world to heaven.
Born March 28, 1917, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Lorene was the daughter of the late James Artie and Martha (Forhand) McBeth. When she was three years old, her mother died and she was raised by her new mother, Artie (Dudley) McBeth along with her grandmother and beloved Uncle George and Aunt Zora McBeth of Rotan, Texas.
Lorene married Joe E. Burn Hull of Rotan on December 24, 1936, in E Burn's sister's beauty shop. The happy couple made their home first in Rotan and later on the farm between Roby and Rotan.
Lorene was a hard worker. She could - and did - do any chore needed on the farm. She worked side by side with E Burn as they built the farm house and their family. She loved doing hard work, sewing, ceramics, and porcelain dolls. She also quilted and crocheted a vast number of afghans and quilts. At harvest time, she was always busy canning or freezing food.
Lorene devoted her life to her family. She sewed the family's clothes, prepared the daily meals, and worked the house and farm. More importantly, she nurtured her children and raised each with gentle, firm direction. She was thoughtful in every decision and determined that her children and grandchildren would be raised correctly. She wouldn't take anything less than full effort and expected the best from herself and her family.
During her years at the farm, she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan. She loved her Sunday school class and made life-long friendships that she treasured. After E Burn died she moved from Rotan to Roby to live closer to family. She then joined the First Baptist Church of Roby, serving as she could as her health declined.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E Burn Hull, one sister Thelma Bristow, five brothers - James, George, Joe, Marvin, and Cleo McBeth - one son-in law Denver Price, one grandson Darryl Price, and one infant- great-great granddaughter Danielle Smith. Survivors include two sisters - Billie Faye Ellison of Levelland, and Lula Butler of Abilene, three daughters and one son - Frances and husband Orville Ribble of Weatherford, Wynelle and husband Bob Terry of Roby, Loretta Price of Waco, and Joe E Hull and wife Carolyn of Roby. Lorene has 15 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She lived a full life. Her legacy is reflected in her family, friends, and all she touched.
