Mary Delphine was born March 9, 1938 in Rotan to Josephine and Clyde South. She graduated from Hobbs High School and was a member of the Church of Christ. She married the love of her life, Billy King, on June 16, 1956 in Roby. She was secretary for the Fisher County Extension Agent in Roby for five years, and secretary and bookkeeper at Texas Tech University for 19 years until she retired.
The most important people in her life were her husband of 61 years, three sons and their wives, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister and brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, friends, and their puppies, Winston and Wrangler. She enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren participate in sports, academic contests, and coaching endeavors. They fondly remember her driving all over Texas to watch them compete as she thought they were the best.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her eldest son, Randall Wayne King, her brothers, Charles Ray South and Lewis Wayne South, one sister, Joyce South, one sister-in-law, Barbara South, another sister-in-law, Barbara King, a niece, Debbie Pelton, nephews, Charlie Pelton and Chucky Leech, and one grandson, Justin Lynn King.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Wayne King; one son from Sundown, Richard James King and wife, Emily, and their children, Brad and Whitney Coons, and their son Callum, Wade and Kara King, and Wyatt; and one son of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Robert Charles King and wife, Kimberly, and their daughters, Madison Lynn King and Bailee Lynn King, both of Nicholasville; a grandson from Dripping Springs, Christopher Randall King and wife, Tracy, and their children, Carter, Kynlee, Faith, Kyler, Camp, Mason, Matthew, Malachi, and Mabry; Christopher's mother, Barbara King of Sweetwater and her children, Tim and Shannon Farnsworth of Anson, and great granddaughter, Mallory and husband Karl Wilcox of Abilene; brother-in-law, Cecil King, brother-in-law and wife, C.F. and Betty King of Tooele, Utah; and sister-in-law Chris South.

Life is too short for all of us no matter what our age,
We say we are ready to go but really wish to
Turn back the page;

Most days have been great but some of sorrow,
But we took it all and hope for tomorrow;

Our loved ones to us have been so dear,
Of this love returned we had no fear;

We can go with God, this is a shining light,
When dear ones come to meet us there,
It will be extra bright.

Mary Delphine King
