Mattie Stephens

Mattie Inez Stephens, 97, of Roby passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in Roby. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roby Cemetery. Visitation is set for Friday, April 6, 2018, from 6pm until 8pm at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Mattie Inez (Boen) Stephens was born in Gustine, TX on April 21, 1920 to Frank and Mattie (Green) Boen. She married J.G. Pullig in 1935 and they were together until his passing in 1971. In 1976, Inez married W.O. Stephens and they were together until his passing in 1995. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Roby. Inez had many careers throughout her life; she was a homemaker raising 4 children, a school bus driver, school cafeteria worker, and she also served as the Fisher County Treasurer for 8 years. Inez loved quilting and sewing and was an avid sports fan.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mattie Boen; her first husband J.G. Pullig; her second husband W.O. Stephens; her son Bobbie Pullig; her grandson Eddie Etheredge; 6 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Inez is survived by her children, Jimmie Dale Pullig and wife Lynda of Deer Park, TX, Dorothy Etheredge and David Ferguson of Joshua, TX, Don Pullig and wife Sandra of Roby, TX; 13 grandchildren; 34 great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Roby Cemetery Association in Inez's name.
