Mildred Roddy passed away February 8, 2023 at Hendrick Medical Center, surrounded by her children. Services will be Saturday, 11:00 am. February 18, 2023 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan. There will be a visitation time prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will be in Belvieu Cametery.
Mildred was born February 13, 1943 in Marlin, Texas to Hattie Huitt Huntsman. Ater high school she continued her education at Plainview A&M. In 1965 Mildred married the love of her life, Willard Roddy on March 20, 1965 in Breckenridge. She worked at Villa Heaven Nursing Home and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she served on the usher board. They moved to Rotan in 1987 and she became a member of the Foursquare Church. She was a member there for twenty-five years and served on the counsel board.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husbands, Willard Roddy; mother, Hattie Huitt Huntsman; four brothers, John Henry Huitt, James Huitt, Thorton Huitt, and Carl Albert Huitt; and three sisters, Ora Mae Ray, Relle Lee Huitt Daniel, and Mary L. Williams.
Survivors include, one sister, Anna Lee Huitt; three sons, Willie Roddy, Robert Roddy (Jamie), and Willard Leon Roddy Jr.; three daughters, Vera Rameriz, Faye Roddy (Tommy), and Aretha Roddy; Roschell Williams (who was like a daughter to her); twelve grandchildren, Essence Shanay Roddy, Robert Roddy Jr., Chanquel De’Nae Roddy, Helen D. Mildred Roddy (Vonle Jones), Alexis Mari Roddy, Arethea Faye Luis Roddy, Leona Denise Roddy, Marlin Rameriz, Matthew Rameriz, Michael Rameriz, Ashley Roddy and Whitney Roddy; fifteen great grandchildren, Braily Baker, Astante Roddy, Brielle Jones, Kambri Garrett, Kailey Garrett, Kenzie Garrett, Kiara Garrett, Taylor Lackey, Karleigh Lackey, Camryn Lackey, Brennan Ellis, Jailen Moorehead, DE’Prince Roddy, Marley Roddy and Allayha Roddy; sister-in-law, Patricia Brown (Mike); two brothers-in-law, Walter (Gail), and Narvis Roddy (Barbara); honorable mention, Veenell Jones (Bubbie), Tracy Boone, Mary Burnett, and Bell Huitt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
