Opal Upshaw

ROTAN OPAL UPSHAW, 85, died Friday April 6, 2012 at an Odessa hospital. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday April 9, 2012 at WeathersbeeRay Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery under the ion of WeathersbeeRay Funeral Home.

Born April 24, 1926 in Walnut Ridge, AK, Opal was a daughter of the late Elmer and Bessie Lee Pritchard Jones. Opal moved to Hobbs, TX in 1942. She married W.R. quotPetequot Upshaw in Roby on March 5, 1945. Opal was a homemaker and enjoyed many things like sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, collecting dolls, corresponding with her pen pal, and riding in her electric chair. She loved to eat. Peanut butter and syrup were a favorite as well as barbeque and cheese and eating out at Dairy Queen. Opal was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Jerry Dean Upshaw, one brother Leo Jones, one sister Louise Upshaw, and a greatgrandson, Douglas Bell.

Opal is survived by two sons and daughtersinlaw, Kenneth and Bonnie Upshaw and Jimmie and Mary Upshaw one brother and sisterinlaw, Bill and Letta Jones of Kermit, TX one sister and brotherinlaw, Mary Lou and Truett Eaton of Ft. Stockton nine grandchildren and fifteen greatgrandchildren. .
