Born September 10, 1931, in Hamlin, Ossice was the son of the late James Lester Whitley and Dona Pearl Wolf Whitley. Ossice was drafted into the U.S. Army in July of 1952. He was an infantry soldier and served with the 5th RCT during the Korean War from November of 1952 until November of 1953. Ossice was wounded on patrol by an antipersonnel mine that exploded when a soldier ly in front of him stepped on and detonated the mine. Ossice eventually recovered and went on to also serve in France and Germany before being honorably discharged on March 16, 1964. Ossice married Anna Joyce McArthur on October 29th, 1982, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As hobbies, Ossice enjoyed dancing, welding, listening to bluegrass music, and playing the fiddle. Ossice was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce, brothers J.L. Son Whitley, Gerald Whitley, and sisters Carolyn and Charlene Starnes.
Ossice is survived by three sons and two daughtersinlaw, Danny and Susan Whitley, Kevin and Amy Whitley, and Craig Whitley two daughters and a soninlaw, Sonya and Ramiro Aldrete and Donna Whitley three brothers and two sistersinlaw, Wayne and Lanell Whitley, Benny and Alice Whitley, and Stephen Whitley four sisters and two brothersinlaw, Lavern Starnes, Sue Spivey, Margaret and Ronnie Kingston, and Mary and Jimmy Upshaw sixteen grandchildren numerous greatgrandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
