Patsy Jane Stuart went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 25, 2021. She was born on March 13, 1932 in Los Angeles, California to the late Ellis and Willie “Bill” Sumerlin. At three years old, the family returned to Roby, Texas to farm. A graduate of Roby High School, she was a band majorette and had a close relationship with many of her school friends. Patsy married her high school sweetheart, Richard Stuart on January 13, 1951, at the First Baptist Church of Roby. They were married sixty-four years until he passed away on June 21, 2015. She was a stay at home mom dedicated to her family, keeping a clean house, and working in her yard. Patsy enjoyed growing flowers and mowing grass until she was 88 years old. She was proud of her three children and always encouraged them to work hard and make something of their lives. When her kids were growing up, she never missed a school program, football game, track meet, talent show, or barrel race. Patsy loved music and took her daughter Christy to sing at talent shows when she was a youngster. Patsy and her family were devastated when Christy passed away in a tragic car accident in 1994. Patsy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Roby. One of her favorite things was to send birthday cards and get well cards to family and friends. She was also very close to her three sisters, Jackie, Becky, and Peggy. When they were together, there was always a room full of laughter. She was predeceased by her parents, Ellis and Willie “Bill” Sumerlin; husband, Richard Stuart; daughter, Christy Hudnall; and sister, Becky Lewis. She is survived by her son, Gary Stuart, and wife Cynthia of Roby; and her daughter, Tammy Mulanax, and husband Stan of Sweetwater. Patsy is affectionately known as Ma to her grandchildren, Jordan Stuart of Burnet, Guy Stuart of Burnet, Angela Andel, and husband Matt of Sweetwater, and Tara Mulanax of San Angelo; and her great-grandchildren, Justin, Kolby, and Jaxon of Sweetwater. She is also survived by her sisters, Jackie Rowling of Corpus Christi; and Peggy Koonsman and husband, John Billy of Snyder; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Sally Etheredge, Patsy Terry, Lovelle Stuart, and Mary Jo Pope, all of Roby. Family and friends are invited for visitation at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Roby before the service. Services will be held at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Roby on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, with Eli Sepeda officiating.
