ROBY- PAUL EDWIN NAY, 79, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015, in Rotan. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Roby, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, and from 4:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home in El Paso.
Born April 17, 1936, in Dodge City, Kansas, Paul was the son of Daniel Clayton and Viola (Shoemate) Nay. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1954, and from El Paso Community College with a degree in Fire Technology. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On October 18, 1958, he married the love of his life, Joan Ann Friedrich, in Nyack, New York. The couple settled in El Paso, where Paul worked for the El Paso Fire Department from 1960 until 1983, and as an Arson Investigator for the New Mexico Fire Marshal's Office from 1983 until 1998. After retiring from the Fire Marshal's Office, Paul and Joan moved to Roby in 1998.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Viola Nay.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Nay of Roby; three daughters, Lynda Barnes and husband, Richard, Debra Vera and husband, Eddie, of El Paso, and Lois Quintela and husband, Ricky, of Del Rio; one sister, Bette Davis of Justin; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
