Pete Garcia Sr. passed away January 13, 2023 in Rowlett, Texas. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Rotan Church of Christ with burial to follow in Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, Rotan, Texas. Visitation will be 9:00 AM, prior to the service on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Rotan Church of Christ.

Pete was born April 28, 1951 in Rotan, Texas to the late Frances (Balerio) and Floyd Garcia Sr. He graduated from Rotan High School and was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. Pete took pride in being a U.S. Marine and serving his country. Pete married Margaret Rameriz in Hurst, Texas on October 1, 1988. He was a jack of all trades. Pete loved cars and was a master as his trade in the paint & body field which caught the eye of the automotive paint division of Sherwin-Williams, Pete worked for Sherwin-Williams for many years and made many friends along the way, Pete also taught students how to paint cars at TSTC in Sweetwater. His desire to return to Rotan in his retirement and serve his community was strong, Pete had always desired to serve in a civic manner and was elected Mayor of Rotan which he took seriously and gave of himself during this time to leave his mark on Rotan. Pete was a highly respected and active member of the LDS church. He also enjoyed working in the yard, loved fishing, was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing the guitar, and singing. Pete was a man of faith and always willing to help anyone in need, he never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd, and Frances Garcia Sr.; grandparents, Gregorio, and Josefa Garcia, and Pedro, and Maria Balerio; son Matthew Wayne Garcia; and niece Rachel Luan Garcia.

Pete is survived by his wife, Margaret Garcia of Rotan; children, Pete Garcia Jr. and Michael of Abilene, Hollye NiCole Garcia and Melissa of Arlington, Zack Mendoza of Grapevine, and Rudy Mendoza, and Theresa of Arlington; three brothers, Floyd Garcia Jr. and David Carter of Abilene, Frank, and wife Trudy Garcia of Snyder, and Manuel, and wife Veronica Garcia of Snyder; nephew, Clinton Garcia of Big Spring; niece, Crystal Garcia of San Antonio; grandchildren, Victoria Kava, Cristobal Mendoza, Micaela Mendoza, Isabella Mendoza, Mathias Mendoza, Kaniell Codina, and Andrew Mendoza; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Ramirez of Rotan, Terry Ramirez of Rotan, Sara Marsh of Rotan, MaryAnn and Roger Coffey of Grand Prairie, Siliva and Hector Ortiz of Rowlett, Connie Martinez of Jayton, Carolyn and Keith Armstrong of Grand Prairie, Cathy and Bob Lee of Bonham, Jay and Alina Ramirez of Chiago, Illinois and Jessica Ramirez of Rotan; and a host of friends.
