Ramona Sauceda

RAMONA YANEZ SAUCEDA, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Sweetwater Healthcare.
Born August 10, 1930, in Fisher County, Texas, Ramona was the daughter of Demetria (Garcia) and Modesto Yanez Sr. She attended Rotan High School, and on March 19, 1960, she married the love of her life, Nicholas Sauceda, Sr., in Rotan. She worked for several years at the steam laundry, then at the Crestview Nursing Home in Rotan. Her home was always full of children, grandchildren, great-granchildren, and their friends. She raised eight children, then raised four grandchildren as her own. Ramona loved sewing, cooking, and making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching Texas Rangers baseball games and Dallas Cowboys football games. She also never missed a Rotan Yellowhammer football game. Ramona was a lifelong resident of Rotan, and a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Sauceda, Sr.; her parents, Demetria and Modesto Yanez, Sr.; her son, Alejandro Gaspar; five brothers, Thomas, Luther, Antonio, Modesto Jr., and Sam; and one sister, Alberta.
Ramona is survived by three sons, Epifanio Gaspar, Jr. (Chris), of Rotan, Frank Gaspar (Donna) of Rotan, and Nicholas Sauceda, Jr. (Lydia) of Sweetwater; four daughters, Lupe Carrier (Joseph) of Rotan, Mary Aguirre (Carlos) of Paris, Janie Lara (Miguel) of Rotan, and Vera Gonzales (Moses) of Rotan; two brothers, Santos Yanez of Slaton and Lino Yanez, Sr., of Rotan; one sister, Estefana Gonzalez of El Paso; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
