Reece Schooley

Reece D "Poppa" Schooley of Rotan was reunited with his loving wife "Teecie" on March 22, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Belvieu cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm. on Saturday before the service.
Reece was born in Dawson County, Texas on January 19, 1939 to WF and Dovie Schooley. Reece attended high school in Tulia, Texas and then joined the Navy. In June 1963 he meet Blenda Leatece Counts, and after a 29 day whirlwind courtship they were married June 29, 1963. After living in various places including Meade, Kansas the Schooleys settled in Rotan. Reece was a "Jack of all trades, master of none". In his 79 years Reece was a cowboy, welder, farmer and rancher, but most of all he was a family man. His family was everything to him especially his oldest grandson, Albert, who he loved like a son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Leatece.
Reece was survived by his daughters; Shelly Gardner and husband Darrell of Abilene, and Shana Haas and husband Chris of Rotan, grandkids; Albert Schooley and wife Lisa, Tabitha Haas, and Nathan Gardner.
