Refugio Flores

Refugio Flores of Rotan passed away at the age of 49, on Saturday, March 15, 2025 in Abilene, Texas. Mass Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29,2025 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rotan with burial to follow at El Ranchito Cemetery. There will be a rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan.

Refugio was born April 24, 1975 to Francisca Flores and Refugio Vera in Stamford, Texas. Starting at a very young age he loved to dance. On most weekends you could find him at local dances spinning the ladies around the dance floor. He graduated from Rotan High School and his best school memories are from being the yellowhammer mascot. He was a barber in Houston for a few years before moving back to Rotan. Cuco as we all call him was a very loving son, brother, nephew, and uncle. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved to cook and was very talented in making some of his Nana’s favorite dishes including her tamales. His last days were filled with laughter and reminiscing about his younger years. He never lost his faith and fought to the very end. He lived a very vibrant life and touched so many hearts. He will be deeply missed by many. As he leaves this earthly world he is no longer in pain and is rejoicing with the Good Lord.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Francisca Flores, and grandparents, Perfecto and Cruz Flores

Refugio leaves behind twelve siblings who will forever cherish his memory, Lydia Almanza and her husband Carlos Almanza, Roland Flores, Laticia Flores and fiancé Lynn White, Rocky Flores, Cindy Acuna, Refugio Vera III (Tish), Gabriel Vera (Esther), Junior Vera (Patricia), Sylvia Vera, Donald Vera, Ernest Vera, and Melissa Vera. He is also survived by his father, Refugio Vera, and many nieces, nephews, family members, and dear friends.

A celebration of life/ birthday party will be held on March 29th at Rays (216 West Sammy Baugh Ave) starting at 1:00 p.m.
