Rodney Clyde Denton, 55, Rotan, Tx passed away at his home on Monday, October 26, 2020. He was born in Ft. Rucker, Alabama on January 23, 1965 to Rodney and Emma (Fairey) Denton. He graduated from Rotan High School in 1983.

Rodney met and married the love of his life Tracie (Pritchard) Denton on February 16, 1991. They were blessed with 2 beautiful children Samuel and Ryleigh Denton.

Rodney worked for the City of Rotan for 37 years where he started working on the garbage truck and worked his way to the Director of Public Works. He also worked with the EMS and with the Rotan Fire Department for 10 years. He served on the Fisher County Child Welfare Board. and served on the Rotan ISD School board for 4 years. Rodney was passionate about softball for the last 12 years and enjoyed watching anything his children were involved in.

He was preceded in death by his mother Emma Denton, Aunt Ruth Martin, Uncle Robert Martin and his grandparents.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Tracie Denton, his children Samuel and Ryleigh Denton and  Lupita Zavala, his father Rodney Denton, Sr., sister Laura Hester (husband Ron) of Georgetown, nephew Caleb Hester, his cousins Rhonda  Smallwood and her family and Ronnie Martin and his family, Mother & Father-in-law Pat and Doris Pritchard from Clyde, Sister-in-law Kyra Minter (husband Reed) niece Maddie Minter, niece Ashlee Stanson (husband-Daniel) of Abilene, Great-Nieces Ellie and Lily Stanson and his favorite LSU cousins Sonny & Deni Groom and Stephie Knight.

Rodney is also survived by his extended family including his softball brothers Adrian Gomez, Christopher Gomez, Dwayne Harris, Jerry Villa, Nathan Hernndez and their families.  Miguel and Beatriz Zavala, Chris (Nanny) and Epifanio Gaspar, Randy and Kim Martin, Terry and Christy Harris, Tucker Harris, Shelby Harris, Kristen Morris (husband Austin), and his Honorary Grandsons Rhyker and Grayson Morris who proudly called him Pop. His two Godchildren Sammy Castillo and Kaitlyn Witt.  Also surviving him are his City family Carla Thornton, Aida Lee, Brian James, Miguel Martinez and Terry McDaniel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Carla Thornton, Christopher Gomez, Adrian Gomez, Terry Harris, Tucker Harris, Brian James, Miguel Martinez, Terry McDaniel, Joe Zambrano, Patrick Zambrano, Tony Zambrano, Isabell Zambrano, Gary (Smokey) Harris, Jeb Inman, Daniel Stanson, Sammy Castillo, and Samuel Allison.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 3rd at 6:00 pm in the Rotan High School Auditorium with Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, November 4th at 2:00 pm in the Rotan High School Auditorium with graveside to follow at Belvieu Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Father Santiago Selvaraj and Pastor Tommy Fraley.
