Shirley Melton

Shirley Joan (Bickerstaff) Melton was born November 28, 1934 to Clifton and Eda Bickerstaff in Rotan, Texas.  She married Jimmy Neeves Melton of Roby, Texas on August 16, 1953.

As a mother to four children, Shirley, James, Wayne and Dorsey she was a creator of joy, magic and mischief.  As a Grandmother, and Great Grandmother she continued her magic ways by creating adventures, telling stories, and making the best biscuits, but most of all, teaching love.  She passed peacefully in her childhood home, November 3, 2020 wrapped in the love she taught us through the example of her life.

Jody was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Melton; her parents, Clifton and Eda; sister, Mae Ladorse; and brother, Ernest Lee. She is survived by her four children, 1 sister and brother in law, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1 pm at Rotan First United Methodist Church.  Service will follow at 2 pm.

Burial at Belvieu immediately following the service.
