SHIRLEY FRANCES SMITH, 73, of Rotan, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016, at her home.
A Funeral Service will be held for family at 2 P.M. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel of Rotan.
Frances was born in Hamlin Texas on November 19, 1942 to Clarence and Jessie (Brannon) Mize.
Frances married John K. Smith in Sweetwater on December 13th, 1958. John and Frances shared 57 years of marriage that were blessed by a love that lasted through good times and hard times. They were blessed with 7 children, 25 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Her passions were reading mystery novels, drinking tea and her grandchildren, especially long conversation on the phone with her granddaughter, Jessica. She leaves behind a legacy that she was most proud of, her family.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Jessie Mize, a son, Johnny Lee Smith, brother Rodger Mize and sister Vonnie Sears.
She is survived by her husband, John K. Smith of Rotan, daughters; Billie Smith of Ballinger, Fleeda Briscoe and husband Jerry of Rotan, Dixie Neves and husband Kris of Rotan, Peggy Jones and husband Glenn of Sweetwater, sons; Charles Smith of Rotan & Russell Smith and wife Janie of Snyder, brothers; Kendard Mize and wife Alice, Steve Mize and wife Rita, and Elwood Mize and sisters; Dixie Jones and husband Charlie, Jo Messick and husband Dearl. She is also survived by 25 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
