Steve Mize, 76, formally of Hermleigh, Texas, beloved Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, Father, Husband, and Son, was reunited with his loving bride on April 18, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He entered this world on June 8, 1947, in Rotan, TX, the 6th child born to Clarence and Jessie (Brannon) Mize.
Steve joined the Navy in 1964 and served until 1966. He met the love of his life, Rita Blair, and they were married on March 1, 1965 in Sweetwater, Texas, and spent 51 loving years together until her death in 2016. Through this union they were blessed with two daughters, Jana and Laura.
Steve spent most of his career in the Oil Field, working for T&R Oilfield, A&A Transport, BJ Transport, Knox Oilfield, Adkin's Supply and Mahaffey. Steve enjoyed visiting with his customers, fishing, horse races, spending time with family and friends, just being on the go and a good ole Sissy's Burger.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Jana (Kenneth) Ramsey of Monahans,TX. and Laura (Andrew) Piri of Blanket, TX., his loving grandchildren, Matthew Jones of San Angelo, Charlsea Jones of Brownwood, Allan Piri of Amarillo, Colton Piri & Miranda Guerrero of San Angelo, Jonathan, Madi and Erin Piri all of Blanket and his very special great-grandson Emmett Piri of San Angelo. He is also survived by his sisters Dixie Jones of Sweetwater and Jo Messick of Loraine, sisters-in-law Mary Blair, Ava Lynn & Alice Mize and many nieces and nephews.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Jessie Mize, his wife Rita Blair Mize, his sisters, Vonnie Jean (Tootsie) Sears and Frances Smith, his brothers Rodger Mize, Kendard Mize & Elwood Mize, his brothers-in-law Charles Blair, Ray Hall, Lee Sears, John Smith and sisters-in-law Wanda Mize and Zelma Hall.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Interim Hospice of Brownwood and Lake Hills Health Care Center for their loving care of Steve.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for a donation to be made to West Texas Boys Ranch, 10223 Boys Ranch Rd, San Angelo, TX.
