Born August 22, 1924 in Corsicana, TX, Waldo was the son of the late Ludie and Josephine Emmerson Gatewood. Waldo graduated from Scranton High School and served in the Army during WWII at the Battle of the Buldge. He married Imogene Taylor on December 8, 1946 in Baird, TX. Waldo was a farmer and blacksmith, and after the war he moved to Anson for a couple of years. He bought a farm in Sylvester and due to the drought moved to Dallas where he lived for a yearandahalf. Upon moving back to Sylvester, Waldo built the home his family would enjoy for sixtyone years. After retiring Waldo enjoyed gardening and loved to grow Bougainvillea39s.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Roby where he served as an Elder.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, one daughter Joann Terry one sister, Sadie Mae Gatewood, and two brothersinlaw J.R. Noseff and Pat Tharp.

Waldo is survived by two daughters and sonsinlaw, Linda and Jerry Etheredge of Hermleigh, and Bobbie and Rex Beauchamp of Roby a soninlaw, Mike Terry of Roby
Three sisters and a brotherinlaw, Ann Noseff, Jo Dean and Deano Farris, and Gracie Tharp eight grandchildren, Chad Terry and wife Paige, Jason Terry, Teresa Thomson and husband Darry, Tina Bagley and husband Chad, Jeremy Terry and wife Shannon, Michelle McMillan and husband Kurt, Tanya Kelly, and Amy Young and husband Toby
twentyfive greatgrandchildren one greatgreatgranddaughter one brotherinlaw and sisterinlaw Odell and Milda Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
