Rotan Willard Leon Roddy, 76, passed away February 3, 2015, in Rotan. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015, at WeathersbeeRay Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of WeathersbeeRay Funeral Home.
Born September 10, 1938, in Marlin, Willard was the son of the late Allen and Ida Mae Griffin Roddy. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Marlin and married the love of his life, Mildred Huitt, on March 20, 1965, in Breckenridge. They moved to Rotan in 1987, where he worked as a city truck driver. Willard enjoyed going fishing, and was frequently found on the shores of lakes throughout the area. He was very active in the Little League Program where he coached for over ten years, and served as an Umpire. Willard was a member of the Cornerstone Foursquare Church. His favorite quote was Give me my flower while I yet live.
Willard is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mildred Roddy of Rotan three sons, Willie Earl Roddy of Rotan, Robert Leon Roddy and wife, Jamie, of Leander, and Willard Leon Roddy, Jr. of Rotan three daughters, Vera Louise Ramierez of Cedar Park, Dorothy Faye Roddy and husband, Tommy Miles, of Ft. Worth, and Aretha Kay Roddy of Rotan five brothers, Walter Irving Roddy of Dallas, Willie Joe Roddy and wife, Grace, of Dallas, Allen Roddy, Jr. and wife, Charlotte, of Albuquerque, NM, Sercy Roddy of Dallas, and Narvis Roddy and wife, Barbara, of Marlin three sisters, Patricia Brown and husband, Mike, of Marlin, Della Mae Mitchell and husband, Don, of Mesquite, and Esther Mae Jackson of Marlin twelve grandchildren ten greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
