William Leo Long, 83 of Rotan, died Tuesday, November 23, 2022 in a Lamesa Nursing Home. Funeral will be at 10:00am on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at First Baptist Church Rotan. Visitation will be at 9:00am right before the service.
Leo Long was born February 20, 1939 in Rotan, Tx to Monte and Hazel Long. He grew up in White Settlement, Tx and graduated from Brewer High School. He met his future wife, Relna, on a blind date and they married on July 22, 1961 in Rotan. They lived in Benbrook, TX where he worked for General Dynamics until 1972 when they moved to Rotan. Leo then worked as a cattle rancher until his death. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and provider. Leo was a member of First Baptist Church in Rotan where he taught Sunday School, member of Rotan ISD School Board, and actively involved in his children’s lives. He has one Grandson (Trei Gohlke) whom he adored and was able to see him grow up.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Relna Sue Long, parents, Montie and Hazel Long, sister, Erlene Hutchins, and brother Mickey Long. He is survived by a daughter, Dilana (Marvin) Gohlke of Kerrville, a son, William Bradley Long of Rotan, a sister, Donnie Loomer of North Richland Hills, a brother Kenney (Sandy) Long of Aledo, and a grandson, Marvin Henry Gohlke, III (Trei).
